Update
on Davey and Goliath for 2005
Here is an update on ELCA plans to
bring Davey and Goliath back to broadcast television. Davey and
Goliath is the popular stop motion animation program for children
produced by the Lutheran church and shown on commercial television
in the 1960s.
Back in
2003...

was produced by the ELCA and broadcast on ABC television local

2003
also brought Davey and Goliath’s appearance before 42,000
young people at the ELCA Youth Gatherings in Atlanta. The duo
led the conga line in the evening dome events and posed for
photos in the interaction center. A new 90-second short
subject on baptism was part of their Youth Gathering dome
appearances.

Davey and Goliath also made an appearance at the 2003 ELCA
Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee. |
In 2004...

We
celebrated a new contract with Scholastic, Inc. to produce
Davey and Goliath storybooks and color/activity books.

Augsburg Fortress, the publishing house of the ELCA, featured
Davey and Goliath in their 2004 Vacation Bible School (VBS)
curriculum, Davey and Goliath’s Camp
Creation. |

Augsburg Fortress also redesigned the

Altar Devotions for families focusing on Davey and
Goliath. |

Davey and Goliath made a number of 2004 personal appearances
including at the ELCA
Global Mission Events and Multicultural Mission Festival. |

November the founders of Davey and Goliath received the
Luther Institute's Wittenberg
Award. |

Davey and Goliath's Snowboard
Christmas , a modern-day one-hour Christmas special
completed in 2004 and the first new Davey and Goliath
production in over 30 years, broadcast on the Hallmark Channel
in December 2004, creating a national sensation and garnering
hundreds of press articles throughout North America. |
New
in 2005...

In
February 2005 Scholastic released the first series of four (4)
Davey and Goliath books which are now available at
retailers throughout North America. You can also
order the books online. Additional Davey and Goliath
books are scheduled to be released by Scholastic in the Fall
of 2005 and beyond. |

Tommy Nelson, the children’s division of Thomas Nelson, Inc.,
signed-on in February 2005 as the distributor of Davey and
Goliath for DVD and home entertainment in the CBA and
religious markets. Initial releases to the CBA and other
religious markets are schedule for Summer 2005. |

Starlight Home Entertainment teams-up with the ELCA as a
non-exclusive licensee to distribute a one-time
special
double-disk DVD consisting of a compilation of classic Davey
and Goliath episodes, special and bonus material to the
general retail market. This extraordinary compilation is
slated for release in Summer 2005. |

Life
Magazine is scheduled to feature Davey and Goliath in
their March 25, 2005 Issue. |

The Davey
and Goliath special "Happy Easter," the classic, restored Easter
special from 1967 broadcast on the Hallmark Channel on
Easter Sunday. |

Goliath's Circus Spectacular is the theme of Augsburg
Fortress' 2005 VBS. |

Other initiatives and negotiations are underway for the full
release of the entire library of classic Davey and Goliath
episodes and specials on DVD and home entertainment to the
general market, as well as initiatives for new productions of
Davey and Goliath episodes and specials and numerous other
ancillary licensing and merchandising releases. |
